Oh, he knows the words, and he can comprehend the English sentence, but he's not sure he understands that at all. The flooded brilliant amusement and pleasure in Victor's face, even an expression he could pick from a million day long trips just pleasantly pulled to their ended or skates when he finally got something hard won, hard practiced right.
But it vanishes for something far more alarming and unexpected. Victor? Victor dreamed about him? Dreamed about him like this? When? How did that even make sense? He doesn't understand that even more and a million questions bubble up. Since when? How? What were they ... ? Certainly nothing like this. This. Here. Right now. Even if Victor said no earlier to his words. About why this was different. Yuri, himself. Lesser. Not like or worthy. Unknowing.
He doesn't know if that makes his heart sink or his cheeks burn more. What had Victor dreamed about him. Wanted from him, across a divide that made Yuri feel even further away, except that he was so close. His hand on Yuri's cheek, thumb brushing over where Yuri's face burned. Where he felt suddenly stretched, spiderweb cracks of something fragile, like a little more pressure might shatter his cheekbone, his breath, everything in him, and Victor even touched that. The blush on his cheeks.
"You--" He doesn't know how to frame the question. If it is a question. If it was a statement. He's not sure he'd have it even in Japanese. Not with the intensity of Victor eyes, and the combination of steadying hand and fragile finger (and the way, oh, he just wants Victor closer, again, building, wants to kiss him, or touch him).
He doesn't know how he'd have done any differently even if he'd had the choice. Would have chosen not to dream it anyway. How could he have ever said no to Victor? He had, but never really. He hadn't been able to on any day since he showed up, to anything offered. Not even when he tried to pull in and prepare for the worst of nothing more.
